Lori is a licensed marriage and family therapist specializing in individual, couples and family therapy, and have a group practice in Federal Way, Washington.
I became a therapist as a career change. I’d been doing something completely different for my adult life and realized the thing I loved most in life was people and hearing their stories. I was that person that friends, family and colleagues would tell their secrets to. Becoming a therapist seemed like the most natural thing I could possibly do and 10 years later I’m still all about being a witness to my clients stories and how they make sense of the world. I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2008. My areas of passion are working through life transitions (both men and women) and working with couples who are stuck or having difficulty feeling connected – or even considering disconnecting. I believe change and hope are possible even when circumstance may not indicate that at present.
I’m an interactive, strength based and above all, emotionally focused therapist. My therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help you effectively address personal life challenges. I view each problem, idea and experience from an attachment lens and try to help both of us understand how and why we got here. With compassion and understanding, I work with you to help you build on your strengths and via new understanding, help and support the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing, with compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help you build on your strengths and attain the personal growth you are committed to accomplishing.
In the last few years I’ve also explored coaching and equine therapy. If you’re interested in either of these things, please see the Coaching of Equine Therapy tab for more information.
Personally, I remarried in 2015 and my husband and I are doing the hard and rewarding work of blending our families (at times it can feel like you’re in a blender). I am the mother of twins who make me laugh, and constantly challenge me to be more than I am. I have two bonus daughters who impress me with how smart and independent they are. When I’m not in the office I love to read, connect with friends, and attempt to play bad golf with my husband.
I am an approved AAMFT supervisor. I have several members on my team that I supervise and consult with on a weekly basis. If you have any questions or concerns about a member of my team or the care you are receiving, feel free to contact me via email, firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone, 253-347-2579.
